WELCOME

We are pleased to announce that from Monday, 24th May 2010 Dr. Jude Watmough will be joining the practice.

Dr. Watmough will work on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.

CHANGES IN PRACTICE MANAGEMENT

Philip Eley, Business Manager, has decided to leave Fortrose Surgery at the end of March, after nearly four years with the practice. I am sure you will join us in wishing him all the best for his future and thanking him for his contribution to the practice management during his time here.

Gaby Ormerod, who has been with the practice for five years, and has been managing the practice together with Philip over the last four years, will be taking over as Practice Manager from April.

Staff Training

The practice closes for the following afternoons to allow time for staff training. This is an initiative that is supported by Mid-Highland Community Health Partnership and by NHS Highland. On these training days the practice will close at 1.00pm.

Emergency medical cover is provided and if you need urgent medical attention or advice you can access this by phoning the usual practice number – 0844 477 2497.

Swine FLU vaccines - update 4th February 2010

Priority 1 (all high risk groups, including pregnant women):
Patients will be able to receive the vaccination into spring/summer until further notice. It is anticipated that the next seasonal flu vaccine will contain the H1N1 strain and will be available at the beginning of the flu season – usually around October.

Priority 2 (healthy children aged over 6 months (as of 31.01.2010) - under 5 years of age):
Children in this age group can still receive their vaccination until the end of March 2010. The Scottish Government has recommended that after the 31st March 2010 this group should no longer receive the vaccination.

If you are entitled to – and have not yet received your swine flu vaccination – please contact the surgery to arrange an appointment.

The Practice Team

PHYSIOTHERAPIST REFERRALS

Patients are reminded that they can self-refer directly to the physiotherapist with any problems likely to be caused by musculoskeletal problems. forms are available at reception.

Important Notice - NEW EMAIL ADDRESS

Patients please note - with immediate effect the email address for the surgery is as follows:

high-uhb.gp55381-reception@nhs.net

The old address will continue to work until 30th September and the account will be closed after that date.

Late surgeries on Tuesdays

The surgery now offers appointments on a Tuesday evening until 7.15pm with one of our GPs (pre-booked only).

These additional appointments have been introduced to meet the needs of patients who cannot attend surgery during the day.

Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

TELEPHONE APPOINTMENTS

The practice now offers telephone appointments with all GPs which can be booked exactly the same way as normal face-to-face appointments. These appointments are offered for patients who want to discuss issues that do not need physical examination only. The receptionist will ask you when booking an appointment if it is for a face-to-face or a telephone appointment and can help you to decide which is most suitable for your needs. You will be asked to give a contact number where you will be available to talk confidentially at the time of your appointment (please allow up to 60 minutes in case a GP has to attend
emergencies and runs late).

The use of telephone appointments will be monitored and the number of available appointments will be increased/decreased depending on demand.
